This pandemic radically altered society and culture in the United States and impacted how Americans consumed wine, beer, and spirits. Today, as we’re dealing with the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, we can expect longstanding changes to similarly occur. Spotlight on Central Otago: People, Grapes, and Terroir

In this webinar—presented by Lucia Volk, PhD, CWE—we will take a close look at New Zealand’s southernmost wine region, which is home to premium cool climate wines.  Ever since 2001—when Jancis Robinson suggested that Central Otago might be hiding the Pinot Grail—wine lovers have been paying close attention to the many dynamic producers in six sub-regions across an area twice the size of Marlborough.  Not surprisingly, Central Otago is a diverse region, yielding different styles of Pinot Noir as well as many noteworthy still whites and sparkling wines. We welcome back Lucia Volk, PhD and CWE, who will explain the most important features of Central Otago and introduce some of its most prominent winemakers.

Join us on a tour of Galicia as we drive through the beautiful wine regions of the area—including Rías Baixas, Ribeira Sacra, Ribeiro, Monterrei, and Valdeorras—as well as some of the iconic spirits and spirit producers of the region. Of course, a trip to Galicia would not be complete without a visit to the city of Santiago de Compostela (and its amazing Cathedral), and a few bites of Pulpo a la Gallega, a slice of Tarta de Santiago, and a burning bowl of Queimada.
